Drive Team
Driver, operator, and coach on the field.
The Drive Team is the small group of students and mentors who operate the robot during FRC matches: the drivers (driver and operator), human players, drive coach, and technician. This branch covers how each role works, how to set up and tune the Driver Station and operator console, how to map controls in WPILib, how to practice for consistency, and how to execute as a unit during matches and turn the robot around between them. It is where mechanical and software work meets live competition, so accuracy, communication, and repeatable habits decide whether a great robot actually scores points.
Curriculum
Before you ever pick up a controller, you need to understand the game you're playing. This primer covers the essential, year-independent knowledge every new driver and operator should have first: how an FRC match flows from autonomous to endgame, how alliances and scoring create the ranking that decides who advances, and what separates a good drive team from a great one. Master these foundations and the department's hands-on driving lessons will make far more sense.
